Card of the Week

This week's card uses another one of the ever popular dies from Memory Box.  We used the Seville Buckle  Die which works wonderfully as a ribbon slide.

This is what the die looks like.  It is an elegant and ornate buckle.  We cut it out of metallic lavender cardstock.

This is what the actual die looks like when cut out.  It's just gorgeous!  We then layered some pink satin ribbon on top of a slightly wider piece of white cardstock.  The little bit of white peeking out on either side of the pink ribbon makes the ribbon "pop"!

Next we adhered some patterned paper in the centre of some white cardstock.  We used  patterened paper from Memory Box's "Viola" collection.

This is what the final card looks like.  We added 12 tiny pearls on the buckle itself to finish it off.  The greeting was stamped using Memento Grape Jelly ink.  The "thank you" greeting is a stamp from Inkadinkadoo.

Above is a close up.  All the supplies used to make this card can be purchased at the store.  We also sell the kits to make this card.  Call us at 604-684-4657 for more info.

Springtime on the Island

Well, you wouldn't have known it by the hail that fell this morning but this afternoon is turning out to be quite a nice springy day here on Granville Island.  This morning however was a different story.....it was a bit dreary and cold and what started out as rain, turned into slightly snowy rain and eventually to hail!  So the fact that this afternoon has turned out to be a cheerful, spring day is a wonderful surprise.  Have a look!

This was taken under the bridge, looking toward the Public Market.  You can still see the wet pavement from the morning's rain.  But you can see that the weather has already taken a turn for the better!

This was a hanging basket outside a store window.  Such a pretty shade of fuschia!

The planters in and around the streets add a nice and cheerful touch of colour.

We spied this bunch of flowers thriving under an awning, completely covered in shade.  We're not sure what flower this is.....if you do, leave a comment and let us know!

Happy Spring everyone -- let's hope it has finally arrived!

Card of the Week - Markers on Rubber!

This week's project is very cool!  We have used Tombow markers to colour direct to rubber to create multi-coloured images that are so pretty.  Below are the supplies we used to make this week's card.

We used 2 of the new Memory Box stamps -- Woodland Wreath and Just a Note, along with tombow markers and the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing folder.

First thing to do is colour in your rubber with your Tombow markers.  For this card we used tombow markers #606,#098 and #725.

This is what the stamped image looks like when stamped on white cardstock.  Isn't it pretty?

We added some contrasting colour in the way of  ribbon in a white and pink gingham.

This is what the finished card looks like when all the pieces are assembled.   We stamped the greeting in the centre of the wreath in the same green as the leaves.  Below is a close up.

This card is so much prettier in person, so come on into the store and see it for yourself!  We also have another delivery of Memory Box dies arriving today, so don't delay because the first delivery went in no time!

The Easter Bunny is on His Way

It will be Easter in less than a month.  We noticed that Cadbury Easter Eggs -- the ones with the ooey, gooey cream filling are back out on store shelves again!  You can't get this product any other time of the year other than Easter.....when they pull them off the shelves, you won't see them again till next year.  We have stocked our shelves with our own Easter products -- lots of stamps, stickers and scrapbook paper.

If you have little ones who love to craft, these stickers are perfect for making Easter cards.

We have the perfect patterned paper for scrapbooking all the Easter Egg Hunt photos this year.  Colourful eggs and polka dots -- the paper is so pretty.  Come and visit us and check out all the Easter card samples as well!

Memory Box Dies - Card of the Week!

This week's card of the week project uses the ever popular Memory Box Dies.  Below are the supplies we used to make the project

We used 2 dies -- Grove Branch and Fancy Blossoms.  As well we used one of the gorgeous patterned papers available in the  "Viola" 6X6 paper pads.   The stamp we used is also from Memory Box.

The first step of course is to create your die cuts.  Lay your steel ruled die on top of your cardstock with the steel edges facing toward the cardstock.  We used the Big Shot for this.  Make sure your die is sandwiched between the full platform with all the tabs.  You will need this thickness as the steel dies are very thin and if you do not use all the tabs, you will not get a deep enough cut or it may not cut the cardstock at all.

Cut out the branch and the blossoms using your Big Shot or Cuttlebug -- the Memory Box dies are compatible with all the current die cut machines on the market.

This is the finished card.  It is elegant in its simplicty.  We simply layered the flowers on the grove branch and added a greeting on the bottom.  Below is a close up.

We have a huge selection of the Memory Box dies and stamps -- come in and check out all the new and exciting designs!

Card of the Week - Elegance in Black & Gold

This weeks project is an elegant card featuring an ornate stamp of a solid bird framed in a scrollwork square.  The stamp is from Inkadinkadoo and is an excellent choice for masculine cards as well.  Below are the supplies we used for the project.

The stamp is stamped 3 times, twice using Memories Black Dye Ink and a third time using Versamark for embossing.  Memories Black Dye ink gives  wonderful overall coverage for a perfect, clear and distinct image time after time.  The versamarked image is covered in gold embossing powder and then heated up to create the raised, shiny and 3D look.

The other 2 black stamped images are cut out eliminating certain parts of the image.  After cutting out all 3 pieces, you should have 3 images as shown below.

And this is the final card -- just add a little black cardstock, some gold ribbon and some gold brads and you have a very elegant card!

Thursday Mornings at I'm Impressed

As many of you know every thursday morning at I'm Impressed we have coffee and a card.  We design a card and order coffee from Starbucks and anyone can drop by and make the card and have a cup of java for $2.  Today, the ladies had a great time making the project.  It is heartwarming to us that some of these ladies met at our store and have become close friends as a result.  We love our customers and love it even more when we can create lasting friendships as a result!
