coffee and a card is back!

To get back into the swing of things here's a sneak peek at tomorrow's coffee and a card.  Join Eleonor between  10 to 12,  she'll have the coffee on and show you how to make this cute little card.

Dance!

A very popular saying goes like this, "You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching, love like you'll never be hurt, sing like there's nobody listening and live like it's heave on earth."  Isn't that a fabulous saying?  We think so, and so it inspired this card.

 

Simple and elegant, this card features a lone ballet dancer, dancing en pointe.  We didn't overdo the embellishments.  The beauty and grace of the dancer takes center stage.  We simply coloured her in with Copics, painted some Distress Tea Dye ink underneath her to ground her and added 3 litle gems on the side.  Finished.  Simple and Perfect.  Here's a close up:

You can purchase a kit to create this card.  The kit will include everything you need to make the card 6 times -- all you need to do is colour in the images and glue the pieces together.  Hope you like it.

Like Crystals?

Our neighbour in the market, situated just outside the Kid's Market is the Crystal Ark.

 

This store is full of polished stones, crystals and jewelery. You can bag your own crystals  for about $5 per small baggie!  Inside the store is a cave full of stones and crystals that you can enter and choose your stones!

 The staff is knowledgeable and the jewellry is one of a kind and unique.  It's a really cool shop, but then again everything in Granville Island is cool!

Cards and Envelopes!

We have a big selection of prescored and prefolded cards with matching envelopes.  There are many varieties to choose from, some are plain and some are patterned.

Having the pattern already on the card base makes cardmaking easier and faster.  Here we've created a Christmas card using the snowflake patterned card from the above picture.

 

Cool, huh?  No need to stamp the snowflakes, they are already on the card!

Wild Roses Card of the Week

This is the card of the week.  It uses a delicate image of wild roses coloured in using tombow markers.  This card is perfect for pretty well any occassion....birthday, thank you, thinking of you ,get well....even for a sympathy card.

Where are We?

Quite often, the store phone will ring and it's a customer wondering where on earth we are on Granville Island?!!?  Since the store underwent some changes and renovations, it's been a bit confusing for customers.  Most of you already know that we are inside the Kid's Market, right alongside the post office.  Contributing to the confusion was the fact there were no signs inside the market, in the hallway as you walk up to our store.  But not anymore.  Our wonderful Ceci has made us a sign so that as you walk up along the hall to our corner of the market, you see this:

 

So now, we should be easier to find.  Come and visit us soon

Alphabets!

Need to spell something out?  No need to worry, cause we've got alphabets in many different fonts in stock!

And don't forget, school is just around the corner.  These handy tiny alphabets are perfect for school projects or for labeling the fronts of notebooks and textbooks.  Come and check out all the different fonts in the store!

Card of the Week

This weeks card of the week is a burst of colour!  Have a look.

 

You have to see the card in person to apprecaite how vibrant the colours are!  We used Copic markers to colour in the flowers which are by Hero Arts.  The flower centers were then embellished with glossy accents and a bit of glitter.   Here's a closeup:

Edible Canada

Edible Canada recently opened their doors right here on Granville Island.  This new location is complete with a retail store, a demonstration kitchen and a bistro and take out window.  Boasting tasty local cuisine from the hardworking producers and farmers of our province, this new spot is definitely worth a visit.  We couldn't resist and went to try their famous hash browns with bacon aoili and ketchup.   These sauces are all made on site and this ketchup may look like ketchup from a bottle, but being homemade, the flavours are not your typical Heinz variety.  You'll have to try it yourself.....and you'll know what we mean.
