New Spellbinders have arrived!

The Spellbinder's Surprise Party Release is here! The latest Nestabilities and more from Spellbinders. I think it is one of best releases to date. The Big Scallops are very hot and of course the Labels are flying off the shelf. Here are a few of my favorites to compare with what you like:

I love the Lables Eleven because it reminds me of a vintage luggage tag. All the Big Scallops are fun because of the deep wide curve of the scallop - they came out in oval, circle and square. Here's a picture so you can compare with the older ones.

They've finally come out with a Deckle edged oval - yippee! I picture vintage looking birds and cages on water colour or distressed paper.
The Lotus Pendant is so versatile with the different flower centers and is inspiring for spring layout. Don’t forget the little trick for the pendant dies to make them come of your die cutting machine smoothly. Run the die through with wax paper first. It gives you just enough of a waxy coating so the intricate cuts come out beautifully. Which will be your favourite?

We are working hard to get the new Spellbinders up on the website but some of them are limited additions so if you've been following the Spellbinder's Surprise Party on line and have a favourite email or call us.  If you don't want to come down to Granville Island order any 3 Spellbinders dies and we'll ship them free!

Quick Bunny Card

Here's a quick bunny card anyone can make!
First, stamp the greeting on your base card (blue in this card).  Then stamp the dot stamp all over your card using white pigment ink to create a background design.  Stamp the bunny on a white card and mount it onto a coordinating green layer.  Stamp it a second time and cut out just the bunny's bottom and tail.  Add liquid applique just onto the tail section and heat up with your heat gun.  Instant fluffy bunny tail!  Mount this onto your original bunny image and then glue on your card, above the greeting.  Don't forget to "ground" your image.  Grounding simply means creating an illusion of a surface that your image sits on so it doesn't look like it is floating in mid-air.  In this card, we simply made an illusion of grass by swiping the white card with some green watercolouring.  You're done!

This card is fast and simple to make!

Olympic Fever

The Olympics are less than a week away! At Granville Island, we are starting to feel the buzz and there is that certain lingering excitement in the air. The Olympic torch will arrive and make its way right past the store on Friday, Feb.12. We can't wait to see it! In anticipation, the store's windows are decked out with the Olympic colours!
Our wonderful Ceci spent a couple of days designing this -- the Canadian Maple Leaf in the Olympic colours!  We love our Canadian Maple Leaf in red.....but we have to admit, doesn't it look just lovely in green and blue?
