Card of the Week

We've got butchers twine in the store - the fancy crafting kind that comes in lots of fun colours.  SO,we're looking for excuses to use it.  How did this card come about?  Fleur explained an idea to Ceci. Ceci then made this card and then Eleonor photographed so I could share it with you.  Funny how the creative process comes about.  For the balloons she used an oval punch and the bear is from A Muse.  Send us pictures of your cards and pages with butchers twine - we'd love to see them.

Don't forget Coffee & A Card!

Yes, it's almost that time of the week again.  Come by on Thursday (and every thursday!) between 11 and 1 PM and for $2 you get to make a card and have coffee with Eleonor!  Have a look at what we made last week!
We used this set from Stampendous, stamped in black memento, then coloured with Copics.  We particularly love this set because the flower comes with 2 differenct centers and it's up to you which center you want to use.  It's super cool.  We also embellished the flower centers -- can you see?

To make this cool effect, we used Ranger's Enamel Accents.  This versatile product comes in a duo-pack of black and white.....great for snowman buttons, googlie eyes, and to create faux brads.

Come by and visit us this Thursday for coffee and a card!  You won't be disappointed.

Stamp Club

Stamp Club

It's the last Saturday of the month - that means Stamp Club!  This month Elizabeth will be showing us how to make three different flower embellishments. Eleonor said that if there's time she'll show us how to do a flower embellishment, too! The Stamp Club  meets at the False Creek Community Centre on Granville Island, the last Saturday of every month from 9:00 to 11:00. We exchange cards and ideas, have demos and complete a few hands on projects. There is a card swap every meeting. It is not mandatory but if you'd like to participate in the swap please bring 10 similar stamped projects with you. Everyone is welcome and there is a $5 drop in fee.

Supplies you need to bring --

bone folder
tweezers
scissors
2 sided tape or fast drying glue
ink pad, any type but in a shade that a rose would grow (to edge petals)
small piece of ribbon that coordinates with ink colour
a brad
a short candle and candle holder

If you want to mount the flowers on something, please bring a tag or small card otherwise you can just take your flower home. You might want to also bring a small plastic container to transport the damp flowers home.

If you don't have something on the list - it's okay we'll share.

Coffee and A Card

We had lots of fun at our first Coffee and a Card last week.  Due to feed back we are changing the time to 11:00 AM TO 1:00PM on Thursdays so that people can stop by on their lunch break.  This week Eleonor will be playing with Copics and two part flower stamps. We'll supply everything you need and there is a $2 drop in fee that is donated to a charity supporting to mental health.  Also, I need more coffee themed cards for my posts, if you've got an idea you'd like to share email it to us.  info@imimpressed.ca

Card of the Week

This cute little card is made with a Stampendous clear set.  The browns and yellow are far from traditional but make it perfect for either gender.   Our 'Welcome Baby' card starts on a brown card with the back ground image stamped repetitively in Rich Cocoa Memento to cover 3/5 of the card.  We've used Memento Bamboo Leaves to create the frame on beige cardstock and mounted it on sunflower yellow. Stamp the 'giraffe' and 'welcome baby' on the same sunflower yellow cardstock in the Rich Cocoa - colour giraffe, cut and mount images as shown. Yes, that's a staple on the 'welcome baby'.  Add a piece of matching ribbon to the brown card before mounting the giraffe panel and you're done!  Much faster then knitting baby booties!

Glimmer it Up!

Need to colour your project?  Want to add some bling and zing to your card or scrapbook page?  It's easy with Glimmer mist!
You can use this wonderful mist on paper flowers and turn them any colour you want!

Or you can use glimmer mist to add colour and create wonderful backgrounds for your cards and scrapbook pages.  Here we used it to add hues of orange and yellow to this card after embossing the stamped image in black.  Try it and explore all the possibilities!

Card of the week

This card is back to basics.  No fancy tools or cutters required.  Our knight has been stamped in black and coloured with Tombow markers and then pulled with wet paint brush.  If you're not sure what I mean either ask for a demo next time you stop by the store or if you leave a comment I might be brave and do my first blog tutorail!  After adhering him to a turquoise card add black strips of card stock.  For that finishing touch - a few Peel Off hearts.

Warm Fuzzy - literally

Okay, so this is not stamping related but I figure that anything that makes you smile or laugh is defiantly worth 17 seconds of your life:)

Card of the Week

This picture would look so much better with some real leaves but I know if I try to retake it it'll be Christmas before I get it posted!  So, for the card of the week we've simply stamped 'The Leaf' from GCS Artstamps in several colours using Memento ink. First, stamp the green leaf and mask it off before stamping the other colours. A few brads in the corner, then it's layered on green and stamp a message and you're done!  Check out the gallery on our website for some more ideas using this stamp!

Back to School!

Today is the first full day of school, cause let's face it yesterday most kids only went for an hour or so, and we might as well not consider that the "real" first day of school!  Today, school is back on for the entire day.  Did you guys notice the difference in traffic at all?  The summer went by fast!

Time to settle in the old fall routine again.  Warmer clothes, scarves, possibly even the rain gear sooner or later.  As September nears its halfway mark, don't forget that Halloween is coming.  Come into the store and check out all our Halloween stamps.  We have lots of ideas to share!

Last Weekend Before School Starts!

Summer is over for the kids, but don't tell that to the folks on the island.....because summer is still here in full bloom.  The flowers are everywhere, the sun is shining and the water park is seeing lots of action.
The weather forecast for this labour day long weekend is calling for sun, so come on out and enjoy one last soak in the sun at Granville Island.  And while you're at it, come and drop by the store and do our make n' take.  We'll be playing with alcohol inks and glossy cardstock!  FUN!

Card of the Week

This week we bring you 'A Classic Thank You'.  This Decorative Crest stamp from DeNami has endless possibilities.  Here it's been embossed in gold cut out and layered with a black scalloped circle. The background has been embossed with Tim Holtz's Regal Flourishes embossing folder.  A few brads and a little ribbon- et voila!
