Card of the Week- Make your Own Patterned Paper!

For this week's card, we used the Ivy & Flowers stamp image from Frogs Whiskers Inc. to create our own patterned paper.  Below are the supplies we used to make the project.

We used Memento ink in  Rose Bud Red to stamp the image several times on white cardstock.  Hint: if you want your image to be lighter than the actual ink you are using, simply "stamp it off" on scrap paper to remove some of the ink on the rubber before stamping it onto your actual cardstock.

Next, using Memento ink in Bamboo Leaves, we stamped the rectangular shadow stamp twice without reinking to create 2 different intensities of the green shade.

Next we created the greeting as a focal point by layering it with several circle pieces.  Here are the punches we used.

And below is the final card!  Next time you don't have any matching patterned paper, remember how easy it is to make your own using stamps you already have in your stash!

Card of the Week

This week's card uses the Filigree Egg stamp by Memory Box. This is an elegant stamp that looks wonderful embossed. Below are the materials we used to create the card.

First thing we did was ink up the stamp with Versamark ink and then add white embossing powder to the image.

We heat embossed the white embossing powder with a heat gun. Embossing is an easy way to add texture to any project.

To add colour to the image, we used sponge daubers and Memento inkpads.  By making a mask of the original egg image on scrap paper, you can protect the actual image from getting any colour on it.  What you achieve is an additional colour around the egg that will complement the colour of the paper you stamped on.

And below is what the actual finished card looks like.  We simply added a narrow strip of patterned paper behind the egg image to create an interesting background.  The greeting is also stamped with versamark and embossed in white to match the egg.  We hope you like it!

Card of the Week

Do you like butterflies?  If you do, then this week's card is just your thing.

We used Design Adhesives and Glitter Ritz glitter in emerald to create the butterfly panel.
Each package of Design Adhesives contains 4 strips of the design you see on the outside.  This package will have 4 strips of butterfly images.

Simply peel off the backing from the adhesive design to expose the design.  Be careful not to touch the actual adhesive with your fingers.  You will be able to see the adhesive as it is shinier than the backing it is adhered to.

Cut out the length of the design you want to use (the same size as the paper you are adhering it on) and then lay it on your paper and burnish the design with your fingers.  Do this by simply laying it down flat on your paper surface and rub it evenly onto the surface with your fingers.  Then slowly peel off the backing.  The adhesive will transfer directly onto your paper in the design you've chosen.  Then you can pour your glitter on top and it will adhere to the butterfly design.  Its' that easy!  Below is a close up of the card.

Card of the Week

This week's card is a cheery flower card perfect for any occasion! This card uses stamps from Stampendous featuring flowers and ladybugs!

The first thing we did was create some grass.  Simply cut a strip of green cardstock to resemble blades of grass.

We stamped the stem stamp using Bamboo Leaves Memento Ink and then coloured in the actual leaves using Copic Markers.

The flower is stamped and then cut out from red cardstock and then ran through the cuttlebug or big shot using the Swiss Dots embossing folder to give it some texture.

We then attached the flower on top of the stamped stem using 3D dots.  The centre is filled with white liquid applique.  When heated up liquid applique will puff up to create a truly unique dimensional element on your card. The last step was stamping 3 ladybugs in black and colouring in the images in red.  We added them to the card so they were crawling on the grass!  Below is the final card.

Card of the Week

So it's thursday, and we're a bit behind in posting the card of the week.  But as the saying goes.....better late than never!  And this card is so cute that we think it was definitely worth the wait!

This card uses House Mouse stamps (who doesn't love House Mouse??) and Hero Art Stamps.

Isn't Maxwell the Mouse so cute?  This stamp is called "Dreampuff" and shows Maxwell contentedly asleep on what looks to be a cotton ball.  So adorable!  The greeting stamp is from Hero Arts -- their very cool set of ribbon stamps.  When stamped these images resemble ribbon.  Stop in the store and check out all the cool Hero Art and House Mouse stamps!
